19 of Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over Corentin Moutet in the competition final.
The Russian, a former top-ranked player, has had a torrid season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a meltdown at the American major.
His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in especial - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with long-term mentor his previous coach.
Currently working with Thomas Johansson and his other coach, he has steadily progressed in the past month - culminating in a hard-fought three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is the player's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt since spring of the previous year.
Success also indicates the Russian has secured twenty-one victories at 21 distinct tournaments.
"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my children together, so to secure a title is especially meaningful," said world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the maiden victory I achieved when my first daughter her name was born was for her."
The tennis star, the past champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, including in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's counter-punching play style and regular outbursts on the tennis court had led some to doubt if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.
However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the concluding five points to take the lead.
The pair exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, striving for his first professional championship, gained dominance to force a final set.
Moutet defended four initial chances in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, he clinched victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
